“There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man” – Winston Churchill
Why take lessons?

Studies have shown that even if you don’t particularly like horses standing in their presence can lower your heart rate and help you relax.

Rolling Hills Riding Academy offers hour long lessons to riders age 3 or older. We offer private, semi private and group riding lessons 6 days a week Monday through Saturday. It is recommended that our students take weekly lessons so that they can progress along with the other peers in their class.

Our professional instructors cover English and Western lessons designed for riders of all levels and all interests. Our lesson plans teach horsemanship, showmanship, equitation, horsey games, gymkhana events, trail, and even jumping! Whether you are looking to compete in shows, or just want to develop a hobby that gets you exercising more, we have a program for you.

Beginner lessons focus on tacking up and grooming of horse, learning basic equine anatomy as well as how to maintain the overall well being of the horse. Our beginner students develop strong safety practices while forming a strong seat and learning how to communicate with the horse beneath them.

Intermediate and Experienced lessons continue the focus on safety, while expanding our riders’ ability and positioning in order to maximize the horse’s overall performance. As our students progress through their training and learning, more challenges will be presented to maximize their experience with us.

Fun games and exercises are incorporated into each lesson so our students have fun while unknowingly gaining physical strength and confidence.

Here at Rolling Hills we believe that safety and fun go hand in hand where horses are involved. This is why we stress the safety guidelines of the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International ( Pathintl.org ) in all that we do in our business. In order to do this, certain attire is required:

  • Long pants, preferably jeans.
  • Helmet approved for equestrian sports
  • Heeled boot appropriate for riding

We recommend if you plan on staying in riding for a while that you purchase your own helmet and boots. However we do have a selection of helmets and boots for use by our students.
